How to find a unique birthday gift for your friend

A gift that is as unique as they are will always beat gifts like plants or candles. This is a real opportunity to use your memory and observation skills to think about things you have noticed when spending time with them. Even the basic things you have seen or heard can spark a great birthday gift idea for them.

Try to find an interest or hobby they have and see if it inspires a gift idea. It should at least point you in the right direction for a great gift.

Look for something that they won’t see coming. Look to their tastes in do they like loud colors and bold clashing prints, that could be a sign to look for something similar. If you happen to have similar tastes then look at things you might buy for yourself.

How much personal detail do you know about them? Things like what color they like or favorite activity? Even small stuff like that can inspire a helpful gift idea. People are often guarded about their details so you may have to be extra observant or you could try just asking them some of those questions. It will be well worth it, and you will have a deeper friendship for it.

Have a party invite the friends you have in common, take your time and plan out the details so it's a party to remember. You could even make it a surprise birthday party.

Cash or gift cards are always welcome because they get to select their gift. Some people think they are too impersonal and it can look like you don't know your friend well enough.
